Hunstrete Country House Hotel is located in Somerset at the edge of the Mendip hills, 6 miles from Bath, 11 miles from Bristol and about 100 miles from London and its airports.
For our guests flying in nonstop from Dublin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and other European cities, we are an ideal choice for the first and last nights' stay in England, being the closest luxury country house hotel near Bristol International Airport, eleven miles away. And last year the first nonstop transatlantic flights to Bristol Airport also commenced, from New York on Continental Airlines.
We are glad to arrange pick-up for our guests from any airport or train terminal and rental cars can be picked-up/left at Hunstrete House with prior arrangement.
Our location is central for those wanting to tour the West Country's historic cities and attactions including the Georgian city of Bath with its remarkable Roman ruins and the bustling city and historic port of Bristol. Within easy reach are the Cathedral city of Wells, King Arthur's Glastonbury, the stately homes and gardens of Longleat and Stourhead, and scenic drives through Cheddar Gorge.

By Car
Directions from M4 & London
Exit M4 at Junction 18, towards Bath and Stroud. Follow the A46 into Bath. Pass through Bath leaving on the A4 towards Bristol. Follow the A4 for approx. 1 mile, joining a small dual carriageway. At the ‘Globe Inn’ roundabout, take the second left on the A368 towards Wells and Weston-Super-Mare. Pass through the villages of Corston and Marksbury, still on the A368, fork right at the next turning after Marksbury, sign posted to Hunstrete Village, Hunstrete House is the next turning on the left.
Directions from M5 - North
Exit M5 at junction 15, joining the M4 towards London on Junction 20. Leave the M4 at junction 19 sign posted M32 towards Bristol. Pass through Bristol and take the A37 road to Wells and Shepton Mallet. Follow the A37 for approx 6 miles, passing through the villages of Whitchurch and Pensford. At ‘Chelwood’ roundabout take the first left onto the A368 towards Chelwood and Bath. Follow this road for approx 2 miles, take the next turning on the left signposted to Hunstrete Village. Hunstrete House is the next turning on your left.
Directions from M5 - South
Travelling along the M5 towards Bristol, exit at junction 22 (A38 / B3140). Follow the A38 for approx 11 miles passing through the villages of Tarnock and Cross. At Churchill take the A368 towards Bath. Follow this road for approx 14 miles, passing through the villages of Blagdon and Bishop Sutton. Go over the roundabout, still heading towards Bath on the A368. After the village of Chelwood, follow the road for approx 1 mile and take the next left to Hunstrete Village. Hunstrete House is the next turning on the left.
By Rail
Both Bath and Bristol are served by Rail. It takes about the same time (15 mins) and about the same cost for a taxi from either station. The Hotel would be quite happy to arrange for a taxi or limousine to pick you or deliver your party up based upon your expected arrival time.
By Air
We are the closest luxury country house hotel near Bristol International Airport which is about 11 miles to the west of Hunstrete House. BA, GO, Ryan Air and British Midlands provide frequent service to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dublin and to many continental cities. It is convenient to Hunstrete and easy to use. It is about a 20 minute drive and a taxi fare will cost you about £15. The Hotel will be quite happy to arrange for a taxi or limousine to pick you up from any airport based upon your expected arrival time.
By Car From Bristol Airport
Turn left out of the Bristol Airport. Go 500 yards, then turn right over the cattle grid towards Winford. Turn right to Chew Magna. Go straight through the village on Bristol/Pensford signs. When you reach A37 Bristol/Wells road turn right towards Wells through Pensford. One mile past Pensford, turn left at the roundabout, towards Chelwood. One mile past Chelwood turn left down hill to Hunstrete Village. Hunstrete House is up the first driveway on the left.

Car-Free Guests
For those guests who do not wish to drive while staying at Hunstrete House, taxis to and from Bath, Bristol or the Bristol International Airport can be arranged for between £20 and £25 per transfer. Transportation along with a guide can also be arranged for trips to Longleat, Stonehenge, Glastonbury Tor, Wells Cathedral or to the many famous gardens that surround Bath.
