Gourmet restaurant in the Mendip Hills

Fresh ingredients and seasonal produce are the key to our kitchen’s distinct cooking style; light English modern with French influences. We use local produce as much as possible, sourcing our free range meats from nearby farms in Wiltshire. As well as the traceability of our meats, we also care about the sustainability of our fish supplies and where possible use breeds of fish which the Marine Conservation Society list as being from sustainable stocks. Within our walled garden, we also grow our own herbs and summer fruits.

The cuisine at Hunstrete House is in the capable hands of Head Chef, Matt Lord, and his team. Matt trained in some of the finest kitchens in the country, training that, along with his dedication and commitment, has earned him and his food much recognition.

When in season, he uses freshly grown produce from our historic Victorian walled garden, as well as the best quality, seasonal ingredients and speciality products from the Mediterranean. Imaginative presentation and complimenting flavours always seem to excite our guests and their palates.

We are able to create seasonal dishes for all occasions, and we are happy to discuss your personal tastes and dietary requirements.

You don't have to wait for a holiday to share a special meal at Hunstrete House. We are open daily for lunch, dinner or for something from our popular Quintessential Light Menu.

Food for Children

Children of all ages are welcome in the dining room for breakfast and lunch. However, children under the age of twelve are not permitted to dine in our dining room in the evening. We will happily arrange for room service or a high tea from 6.00pm.
