We are delighted to have tempted David Hammond across to Hunstrete House from sister hotel Ston Easton Park, to take up the role of Head Chef for our precious, Popham’s Restaurant.
Dave grew up in Birmingham where he obtained an NVQ level 2 in catering and hospitality. He joined the von Essen collection in 2002, taking up position of Chef de Partie at the prestigious Ston Easton Park Hotel and was quickly promoted to Junior Sous Chef in 2003. By 2004 Dave had been offered the Junior Sous Chef’s position at the Elms Hotel in Worcester and after two successful years there, his skill recognised, he returned to Ston Easton Park as Sous Chef under Michael Parke.
David now continues to develop and shine, beating 26 award winning Chefs to scoop second place in the von Essen Chef of the Year competition only this year. His natural progression in 2009 is to Head Chef and Hunstrete House Hotel is thrilled to take on such an experienced, exacting and experimental master of modern British cuisine for Popham’s Restaurant.
Dave continues the Hunstrete House passion for fresh produce and the support of local suppliers. Incredibly socially aware, he also spends much of his spare time long distance running to raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
